November is National Veterans and Military Families Month, National Care at Home Month, and National Family Caregivers Month. Here are 5 concrete steps you can take to support others. We include links to resources you can share for each step to make it easy!
If you know of other good resources to share in honor of these designated themes, please put them in the comment section below!
For National Veterans and Military Families Month:
- Review and share this guest blog for tips for meaningful conversations to ensure that Veterans’ experiences and preferences are acknowledged and respected: Building Bridges of Understanding: Conversations Through the End of Life for Veterans.
For National Family Caregivers Month:
- Review and share some tips and a story for supporting caregivers from The Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s blog: Recognize Caregivers as Star Players on the Team.
- Encourage your people to visit the Support Caregiving Website and check out their Resource Guide for Family Caregivers. This guide links to existing resources to help caregivers find services, support and more.
- Visit the Caregiver Action Network’s resource page to learn more about promoting this year’s theme, find resources, social media toolkit, stories, ideas on how to support caregivers, and more.
For National Care at Home Month:
- Learn more here about this new month of recognition, celebration, and storytelling, and find resources to share.
And be sure to check out our Supporting Others (with an eye towards caregivers) Communications Toolkit for an overview of this theme with ready-made text and images you can use.
