Communication About End-of-life Wishes Does Not Frequently Occur

San Diego Union Tribune: Too many people die differently than they would have liked because individuals do not express to their loved ones in advance what they want. This frequently leaves families feeling distressed, guilty and wishing it could have been different.

Why are these statistics so jarring and why are these conversations not taking place?

Most people do not like to think about the end or talk about death. The thought of speaking about it can be as uncomfortable as talking about the birds and the bees with your teenager. However, even though it’s not easy to talk about, end-of-life-discussions are one of the most important conversations you may have.
