To Blave
I had the conversation with my spouse.
My husband of 16 years passed away.
As he was in and out of the hospital the last 2 months we had the discussion about what to do if he stopped breathing or if he needed a ventilator. Well – these two events actually happened and I was so grateful that we talked about it so I knew what he wishes were and was able to tell his family what he wanted. He wanted to try to be kept alive as long as there was a chance of recovery.
He stopped breathing, CPR was performed for 40 minutes. His pulse returned but after a few days there was no brain activity.
True love (“To blave” from the movie The Princess Bride) was my guide in following his wishes.
