A good death

I had the conversation with my friend.

I had the pleasure of being present when my husbands grandfather passed. We were still dating at that time. He was a preacher and a very strong faith. The entire family was present and for some reason he chose to hold my hand which was, at the time, a little confusing since I only knew him for a little less than a year. He was cognitive enough to tell each family member a special goodbye and saved the last for me. He had me lean in and he whispered in my ear that my husband finally found his soulmate and he was certain because God told him so just a few days before. He simply closed his eyes after that and passed away about 10 minutes later. My husband and I have been together for 9 years now and still going strong. I have never forgotten that special interaction to this day and hold that memory deep in my heart.
