Talking Matters in Faith Based Communities Community Call Preview

Posted on 04/12/2016

Most people reading this blog know the conversation is important for every adult to have. We also know that different people respond to different messengers and messages and that there are many ways to spark interest in the topic. As we try to engage millions of people around the country (and world!), we often refer to our strategy of reaching people where they live, work, and pray.

In this month’s national community call (Wednesday, April 20th at 3 p.m. ET) we’ll focus on reaching people where they pray, covering ways you can work with faith leaders and organizations in your region. With plenty of time to prepare for November’s National Conversation Sabbath, we’ll dive into the reasons for engaging different groups like local congregations, interfaith councils, divinity schools, chaplain networks and some of the resources available.

Whether you are personally active within a faith community, or are interested in introducing this topic to other community leaders, watch this video to get a feel for the initiative and join us on Wednesday to hear from Rev. Rosemary Lloyd as she shares best practices from Boston and beyond.

Thank you for including me in this call.

Extremely excited to begin preparing for Conversation Sabbath in Augusta, GA and surrounding areas! Participated in the TCP call today and was motivated by Rev. Lloyd and all the dialogue! Planning to host a few workshops for clergy to help them become comfortable with the topics of palliative care and ACP for all walks of life in the month’s preceding Conversation Sabbath! Great ideas today and looking forward to reaching our community through faith-based messages!
