September 16th Community Call Preview

By Kate DeBartolo, 09/08/2015

One thing I love about working with groups around the country is seeing the ways in which they customize a message to best reach different audiences. Whether it’s developing book group questions or events for students (both of which we have suggestions for our on Community Resource Center) the community organizers always know best how to approach each group. As one leader in Akron, Ohio said to Ellen Goodman and me on a trip last year, “don’t worry, we’ll Akronize it.”

That’s the angle we’re taking on next week’s community call. We’ll hear from Common Practice, creators of the My Gift of Grace card game, about their shift toward movement building and addressing avoided conversations. We’ll get to learn about how they work with different populations, and we highly recommend you view their Nazea videos before the call. Finally, we’ll also hear from Conversations of a Lifetime in Cincinnati, Ohio about their public engagement and social media campaign this summer (check out #ThingsYouShouldntWaitToSay on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter or watch this video to see more).

We all know the importance of having the conversation – and we’re always excited to learn about new ways of engaging people to have it. There is no one size fits all approach. Join us on Wednesday, September 16th at 3 pm ET to learn more!

Where can I buy My Gift of Grace card game? I am a thanatologist and gerontologist. I am an AARP member from Puerto Rico and was in charge of the grieving program. I am very interésted in your Conversation Proyect. What do I need to start sharing your Conversation kit to different groups?

My name is Aida Pagan, I live in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. My email is aluzpa@prtc.net.
    Hope to hear from you.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any real way you can remove me from that service? Thanks! I hope that it doesn’t disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, It is known by me was my choice to read, but I thought you’d have something interesting to say actually. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you weren’t too busy looking for attention.
